The House of Gold

The Wander Wall

Ca'D'Oro

Giovanni Bon’s Ca’D’Oro, originally known as Palazzo Santa Sofia.

The Palazzo faces the Grand Canal in its Venetian Gothic architecture. The intricacy of its facade makes use of precious materials such as gold leaf, ultramarine and vermilion.  It now houses a small gallery named after Baron Giorgio Franchetti, who passed the palace’s title to the city of Venice.

Taken from a vaporetto, this is a view of the House of Gold from the Grand Canal, Venice, Italy. 2014
